24 Feb The Building Safety Act Has Changed The Rules
SHEP has welcomed the launch of BESA’s new Clients’ Guide to the Building Safety Act, produced with support from a coalition of construction industry organisations and backed by the Building Safety Regulator’s Industry Competence Committee.
The guide has been launched as part of a wider effort to encourage faster adoption of building safety standards and improve understanding of the Building Safety Act, which has been in force since 2022.
It sets out clients’ legal duties and emphasises the leadership role clients play in delivering safe, compliant buildings. It also reiterates that the building safety regime applies to all buildings, not just higher risk developments.
The guidance is written in plain English and designed to educate, not intimidate, by explaining what good looks like in practice and helping clients make better, safer procurement decisions.
The Client’s Guide to the Building Safety Act is available to download now.
